My Green Valley volunteers have this week yet again cleared up discarded plastic bottles, drinks cans and other litter from in and around the Ynysderw Playing Fields in Pontardawe. On Thursday morning 2 bags were filled, with another bag filled on Friday morning.
Many bottles had been shredded by grass cutting machines, leaving plastic shards which could be a danger to anyone using the fields.
Residents and visitors should be encouraged to dispose of their waste responsibly while enjoying our green spaces, but there is a total lack of bins (especially recycling bins) at the entrance and exit to the fields. We will be bringing this matter to the attention of the local council.
